About Care West Insurance Company

Care West Insurance Company was formed to insure healthcare workers' compensation needs in 1989, and in 1996 became an admitted California insurance carrier licensed to write Workers Compensation. Today, Care West provides workers' compensation insurance to safety-minded California employers specializing in healthcare facilities, the hospitality industry, and the agriculture/farming industry, among others.

Care West Insurance Company was formed in 1989 to insure companies affiliated with its parent, a senior healthcare management organization.  Care West Insurance Company operates as a licensed domestic California workers' compensation insurer.  Upon its admission to California in 1996, the Company focused its writings exclusively on policies for companies affiliated with its parent.  This focus allowed Care West to underwrite its business with the express purposes of delivering loss control services and providing a consistent and competitive market for these companies. 

Early in 2003 Care West developed a plan that would accomplish the goal of reducing the number of accidents and the severity of indemnity claims, entitled "Safety has its Rewards."  In 2004 the Company expanded its writings to include non-affiliated health care employers, and in 2006 they began to also write selected employers outside the healthcare industry. 

With this expansion of its potential sources of business, Care West grew significantly in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, in response to its rapid growth, the Company began a program to enhance its capabilities in the areas of underwriting, loss control, information systems and claims handling. This program's aim continues to be to improve Care West Insurance Company's overall performance and value for its Brokers and insured Employers. Throughout its development, the Company has continued its emphasis on Loss Control and focus on selected industries.

Care West has assets in excess of $100 million, and its corporate office is located in Rocklin, California.
